After Trump's Repeated Boasts, Black Unemployment Spikes Up From Record Low

When Trump summarized the successes of his first year in office, he emphasized how the prosperity of his first twelve months impacted the lives and hopes of ordinary Americans, wage laborers and others whom the eight years of the Obama presidency had left behind.

But members of the Congressional Black Caucus, were unmoved. President Donald Trump is the reason why. Democrats shut the door on Trump's offer to amnesty 1.8 million illegals in exchange for border security, because keeping the borders open and hatred of Trump are more important to Democrats than the actual DACA "dreamers" whom they claim to care about.

During President Trump's first "State Of The Union Address" to Congress on Tuesday (Jan. 30) evening in Washington D.C., he mentioned low black unemployment at a record low and members of the Congressional Black Caucus were unimpressed.

After rapper Jay-Z called out the president's for dismissing African countries as "shitholes", Trump took to Twitter to patronize and scold the musician.

It's a similar situation with the Hispanic unemployment rate, which was also at a record low of 4.9 percent in December of 2017, according to BLS statistics.

Christie is scheduled to return to the air Tuesday night to comment on President Donald Trump's State of the Union address. Bush as an example of how public officials should step down, he said. "He's conducted himself with honor and dignity".

Trump said in another tweet on January 8, also referring to Hispanics, among whom unemployment had fallen. It doesn't. That's missing the whole point.

At one point, he reiterated his disgust for NFL players' national anthem protests against systemic racism by praising a 12-year-old white boy's act of patriotism.

The president clearly intended his speech to be an olive branch to Democrats, pleading for a "new American moment" and vowing to "extend an open hand" to political opponents.

Republicans have been attacking Democrats for not standing and applauding when Trump talked about unemployment in the Black community during the State of the Union.

Asked why the Trump administration has been touting black unemployment specifically in recent weeks when the numbers continue to show that unemployment is still disproportionately higher, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded: "because they're better than what they have been".
