Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that Paul Pogba's omission from the starting lineup for their 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town this afternoon was not a punishment. 'I try to do what I think is best for the team in any moment.

Asked about his decision to start the French global on the bench, Mourinho said, "I changed a few players". For all the success Mourinho's managerial career has brought him, there has been a perennial black splodge next to the box marked youth development and no one has been more aware of this than the man himself.

Asked afterwards about Sanchez, Mourinho said: "He played only three (matches since joining from Arsenal) and the first at Old Trafford, and I think Old Trafford, in spite of being a quiet stadium, the pitch is big, the grass is nice and obviously the players feel very comfortable playing here". "But to sit on the bench one day (Pogba came on in the 65th minute) is not the end of the world".

This was the first time Pogba had not started a match for United for which he had been fit since arriving from Juvents but Mourinho insisted there was no significance to the decision and was happy with how his No 6 performed when coming on in the 64th minute.

"He was dragging his team forward with the pace of his play".

Pakistan, Afghanistan agree to continue talks on joint action plan
The foreign minister added that the Afghan delegation, which visited Islamabad on Wednesday, had productive talks with Pakistan.

"Sometimes managers have to show they are in control and that they haven't got their favourites". Romelu Lukaku was the scorer, turning in Mata's cross with a well-placed finish at Jonas Lossl's near post.

'Maybe he's just thinking that after the other night, this is a good opportunity to send a message to the rest of the dressing room.

Defeat left United second in the table but a huge 15 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City.

Sterling side-footed wide in front of an open goal in the second half when City was leading through Danilo's strike on Saturday.

"We have to improve not in the quality of the players, we have to improve in the dynamic of the team and in the efficiency because even (Saturday) it is a game to score more goals than two".
