Alabama undoubtedly has landed plenty of recruits that are worth talking about.

Alabama got a huge National Signing Day win when five-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr.

"You know, nothing comes out ideal because we don't control these things, but we'd have liked to get two inside linebackers, we got one". Alabama signed five recruits Wednesday to finish with 20 signees. Surtain, the nation's No. 1 ranked corner and top uncommitted prospect coming into signing day (No. 6 nationally, No. 2 in Florida), was considered a sure thing for the Tigers for the longest time.

Joseph committed to LSU last week over such schools as Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas and Clemson.

Texas A&M is also looking to fill its quarterback vacancy in the class of 2018.

Head coach Ed Orgeron will recap the 2018 recruiting class at 3 p.m.

Woodland hails 'miracle' son after emotional win
Over 719,000 people came through the gates, smashing last year's mark by almost 65,000. "I mean, I really had it going". We went out to Hawaii early so I've been with him for five straight weeks which is incredible .

Landing a No. 1 class this year would have been a stretch, with Alabama not having enough scholarships free to sign a full class of 25 (or more, as in some past years).

"Why Alabama?" Surtain said live on ESPNU.

If Petit-Frere chooses his destination based off National Football League pedigree, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Alabama would be in front of the other two schools. UA also had a lot of changeover on its coaching staff, with both offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Pruitt leaving, among others.

Braxton Barker tweeted in December the Crimson Tide had offered him a spot as a preferred walk-on. While Saban and Co. are bringing in potential stars, as they always do, there isn't the same number of high-level recruits that we're accustomed to seeing at the top of their class.

"I think they get Chase and Joseph in addition to Surtain", Scarborough said. "Those changes were much more aggressive in the late signing period". The Bulldogs had the nation's best class. Alabama's recruiting success under Saban had become so overwhelming that anything less than No. 1 might be a disappointment to some fans.
