Warning of ice and snow on Friday for Flintshire and Wrexham

A weather warning has been issued for snow and ice across Dundee, Tayside and Fife.

The forecaster said there would be "scattered snow showers" but accumulations of less than 3cm.

"Showers most frequent in the west and north".

These will extend eastwards and moderate snowfall is expected north of the border.

"It will turn very cold with lowest temperatures falling to between -2 and +1C leading to a widespread frost and icy stretches on untreated roads".

Temperatures are expected to plummet overnight to -1C in the north-west of Scotland and near freezing in the north-east of England, Northern Ireland and central Scotland. But the evening will see the weather drop to freezing and below, with the chill expected to last all weekend.

Relatively small amounts of rain are predicted for southern counties compared to other areas.

Heavy snow showers are expected to follow on from a spell of rain, sleet and hill snow late on Thursday, forecasters said.
