The Indianapolis Colts were brimming with excitement preparing to introduce Bill Belichick protégé Josh McDaniels as the new head coach, but at the final hour, Belichick and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft persuaded McDaniels to stay put in Foxboro. McDaniels did, and his representation is gone.

When asked whether he had any inclination of McDaniels getting cold feet before officially inking a contract with the Colts, Ballard responded, "No, not at all".

"I think he learned a lot from his time in Denver", Tebow said. Wednesday he put an emphasis on reassuring people that the Colts will be able to find the right head coach to replace Chuck Pagano, who was sacked in January after six seasons. Most assumed that McDaniels' primary reason for leaving the Colts at the altar was that he had been tapped as Belichick's eventual successor, but apparently that's not the case. Reich first has to attend a championship parade in Philadelphia on Thursday.

The other three No. 3 seeds along with Michigan State are Clemson , Texas Tech and North Carolina . They also have four Quadrant 2 wins and only two losses outside Quadrant 1 .

The 41-year-old will instead remain in New England as offensive coordinator on an improved deal financially. Although Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was heavily involved with the offense, Reich had major influence as the team had to adjust following the season-ending knee injury to QB Carson Wentz. With the Colts in the middle of a rebuild, they could use a coach like that. For now, I'll believe it when I see Luck on the field in 2018. He became quickly known for high-intensity practices that aren't the norm in the National Football League anymore.

Ballard was referring to the decade-long power struggle in the AFC between the Colts and Patriots when Peyton Manning and Tom Brady were both at the height of their powers. If the Colts want a jolt to their culture, maybe Campbell is the best option. NFL Network reported the Colts also have submitted a request to interview Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia was linked to the Detroit Lions head coaching vacancy for weeks, which eventually came to fruition. He might help the Colts' defense, which has consistently been below average the past few years. While there are no guarantees that McDaniels will be Belichick's successor, it's hard to imagine him spurning one guaranteed head-coaching job for a potential one down the line if he didn't believe he was the front-runner to replace Belichick once he retired.
