Tottenham Hotspurs sunk EPL giants Arsenal 1-0 at Wembley stadium on Saturday, February 10 in the North London derby.

Kane, 24, became the second-fastest player to ever reach 100 Premier League goals by netting his 31st of the season in just 32 games to salvage a point for Spurs from a thrilling 2-2 draw at Liverpool last weekend.

The result leaves Arsenal in sixth - seven points behind their rivals - with the Europa League now looking like their surest route back to the Champions League next season. "We contained them to very little", Wenger said after the game. "It makes it much more hard now, but we have to fight until as long as we have a mathematical chance".

"This was a game we couldn't afford to lose".

Wenger has spoken before of his reluctance to forget the Premier League and focus on Europe, and reiterated his stance after the derby loss.

Kane returns to haunt Arsenal as Spurs soar to third

"I'm not a great fan of the Europa League being a qualifier of the Champions League", Wenger said. "In the last three years, I have repeated that he is one of the best strikers in the world", Pochettino said.

Perhaps to maintain the confidence of his own frontmen Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, the boss then added: "Our strikers are top class as well and we want them to express their talent".

It was Cech who kept the score at 1-0 with a sequence of smart saves, but the Gunners' goalkeeper also came perilously close to undermining all of his hard work with some bafflingly very bad passing under pressure. The reality of football that we have seen over and over again is if you punch above your weight financially, clubs will come in and try and take your best players.

In that time Arsenal have won three FA Cups, while Vertonghen has played in one League Cup final, but believes Tottenham are close to winning a first trophy since 2008. In these big games you just need that first goal and the spaces open up and you get more chances. We can only look at ourselves.

His 32nd goal of the season earned Tottenham a well-deserved 1-0 victory over Arsenal and in truth, it could have been four or five in the second half.
