Cheryl shrugged off questions about Liam Payne in her first TV interview since news of their relationship crisis broke.

"It doesn't help that Liam will be on stage singing a pretty sexual song with Rita that will get everyone talking".

It was also reported by The Sun that Liam has spoken to lawyers to see what a split would mean for their shared assets and the care of their son - with Liam holding an estimated £54million fortune, and Cheryl around £20million.

And she said of her teenage years: "If I hadn't been fortunate enough to get out, I don't know where my life would be right now".

Liam has been touring the USA and recently spent time in NY promoting his new single For You, a duet with Rita Ora.

Speaking live on BBC Breakfast, Cheryl ensured that the breakup rumours would not steal focus from her special day after presenter Dan Walker touched upon her high-profile romance. I've waited seven years to be here.
