BB&T restoring several banking services after equipment malfunction

Many of BB&T's banking services were unavailable early Friday morning, including online banking, mobile banking app and ATMs.

Customers can still use their debit, credit and prepaid cards, according to the bank's website. Our online and mobile banking platforms are now available along with our automated Phone24 service and ATMs. We want to make sure our clients understand some of the information they will see about their accounts has not yet been fully updated.

We are deeply sorry this has happened. Cybersecurity is not believed to be related to this issue at this time.

"We are carefully reviewing the cause of this issue, and taking steps to make sure this doesn't occur in the future", the bank said.

BB&T is restoring some of the services it lost after what it calls an equipment malfunction.

It also said its locations that are usually open Saturday will stay open for two hours longer to address any customer needs. "Shame on you", one customer wrote on BB&T's Twitter page.
