The move ensures that the Kansas City Chiefs have the utmost confidence in Kendall Fuller, as did the Washington Redskins when they ultimately made a decision to trade him away in January.

The Chiefs reportedly have agreed to send Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters to the Rams for what is expected to be a package of draft picks. first reported the trade, which will not become official until the start of the new league year on March 14.

Look at it this way: In 2017, the Chiefs' top corners were Peters (elite), Mitchell (tons of questions) and Nelson (solid). Hunt has also met with Peters in the past to discuss his protests during the national anthem.

Whatever the case may be, Peters will be going to the Rams among potential suitors, which means he'll be much closer to his hometown of Oakland, California, than Kansas City-for better or for worse.

None of those character concerns was evidently enough to dissuade the Rams from making a deal, though.

However, if they did go after Johnson, new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus would be getting a big, physical corner to build the rest of the secondary around.

Late in the fourth quarter of a 38-31 loss to the New York Jets, Peters was upset at a penalty and picked up the referee's flag and threw it into the stands.

Signing Johnson in free agency and the selecting a safety in the 2018 NFL Draft to pair with Jabrill Peppers, and suddenly the Browns secondary is on par with the front seven and puts the pieces in place for a defense that can get fans excited.

For the time being, the Rams have acquired a top-level talent with only a $1.74 million cap hit the 2018 season while the Chiefs are taking on a $1.3 million cap hit.

The return for the Chiefs is set to be draft picks but what selections and how many is still to be determined.

The Rams are already without a second-round after their trade for Sammy Watkins a year ago.
