Bears give CB Fuller transition tag

It appears the Bears finally realized that they had the best free agent cornerback on the market in Kyle Fuller, as they placed the transition tag on the CB Tuesday, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.

Chicago used the transition tag on Fuller, giving him a guaranteed salary of nearly $13-million for 2018 and the ability to match any offer sheet he signs with another team.

By using the transition tag, the Bears secure the right to match any contract offer Fuller might receive from another team.

The Bears have come up with a more creative and less expensive way of keeping free-agent cornerback Kyle Fuller.

SpaceX finally launches Hispasat 30W
The Falcon 9 has evolved considerably since its first test flights to become the only fully reusable launch platform in the world. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said the payload - Hispasat 30W-6 - would "be the largest geostationary satellite we've ever flown".

Fuller has 159 tackles and eight interceptions in 48 career games with the Bears.

The transition tag will pay Fuller $12.971 million for the 2018 season, as opposed to the $14.975 million he would have received under the franchise tag. The Bears would not receive any compensatory draft picks if they opted not to match such an offer. He was fourth on the Bears in total tackles with 68 and was one of only two National Football League players with at least 65 tackles and 20 pass breakups. Pace can also try to work out a long-term deal with Fuller, which would need to get done by the July 16 deadline.

The only other corners on the current roster are Marcus Cooper and Cre'Von LeBlanc. The following year, Fuller once again played a full 16-game regular-season, tallying 54 stops in all, two interceptions and nine pass defenses. However, he struggled in 2015 and missed all of 2016 due to arthroscopic knee surgery, leading the Bears to decline the fifth-year option of his rookie contract last April.
