Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, police went to Heather's Thousand Oaks home armed with a search warrant and went inside the house and looked for the weapon for several hours.

As previously reported, Locklear was charged with a felony of domestic violence and three counts of battery against an officer last month.

"She claimed to be injured, but we didn't see any sign of that", Ventura County Sheriff's Office Capt. Garo Kuredjian said.

The former Melrose Place star, 56, 'practically bit the tip off of Heisser's nose, ' the source said, before instructing a woman who works with her to call police. Investigators discovered that Locklear had a gun registered in her name, but no gun was found during Tuesday's search.

Last week, Locklear was arrested for allegedly almost biting her boyfriend's nose off in a drunken rage, and then attacking three cops who came to break up the fight. During the arrest, police say Locklear allegedly became combative and uncooperative, and allegedly battered three deputies.

The search stemmed from Locklear's domestic violence arrest last week when she allegedly bit her boyfriend Chris Heisser's face so badly that she "practically" took off his nose.

Sources close to Locklear have said that she was "spiraling out of control" ahead of the incident. We initiated an investigation, which revealed that she had actually battered a boyfriend at the residence prior to our arrival. "She posted $20,000 bail and was released".

"Her friends and family are telling her it is time to go back to rehab", a source told Entertainment Tonight. Locklear's next court appearance is set for March 13 in Ventura, California, while Heisser is scheduled to appear in court for his case on April 26.
