Don't Forget! It's A Daylight Saving Time Weekend - Spring Forward 1 Hour

First of all we lose an hour of sleep which is more than enough reason to be angry.

Americans will be getting an extra hour of sunlight when daylight saving time starts Sunday, March 11, at 2:00 a.m.

We know it's coming every year, but that doesn't make springing forward any easier. DST supposedly would save energy and reduce reliance on oil imported from unfriendly nations in the Middle East because people returning home from work would not have to turn on their lights until sunset one hour later than standard time.

"If you track overall auto accidents, and you track job accidents, and you track job performance there is pretty good large epidemiologic studies that show that there is a temporary bump (in numbers) for those first few days after the time change". If you're feeling sleepy, short afternoon naps are recommended for a few days after the time change until the body adjusts.

Never mind that one study showed that our risk of stroke increases 8 percent right after the time changes while another study revealed that our risk of heart attack increases by 25 percent the Monday after spring forward.

Seahawks deal Michael Bennett to Eagles, report says
Bennett played every game and had 8 1/2 sacks for a team on which the bigger problems were on the other side of the ball. The Falcons were recently rumored to be interested in trading for Bennett before the Eagles beat them to it.

The idea of losing an hour of sleep this weekend has ZERO appeal to me. Federal law now allows states to remain on Standard time, but does not allow states to remain on Daylight Savings Time. Now DST begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November.

Arizona and Hawaii haven't observed daylight savings time since the late 1960s. It was officially recognized nationally in the U.S. in 1966 with the Uniform Time Act.

The idea of changing clocks dates well before 1942 when the United States started it. Benjamin Franklin is often given the honor of "inventing" it, but he only had the idea of changing sleep schedules...not moving clocks.

Did Florida really pass a bill to stay in daylight savings time year-round?
