Amazon also says that Alexa will only respond to follow-up requests that she's reasonably sure are actually requests for Alexa, so there may be some hits and misses in the early days as Amazon's computers figure out how best to hear what you're asking without the original wake word in the beginning each time. The user will have to use the trigger word again the next time.

Not anymore. Follow-Up Mode changes all that. Alexa then interprets the phrase as a command and laughs. The blue indicator light on your Echo device will continue shining for about five seconds to allow additional requests. If you're one that asks Alexa a lot of questions, you're used to invoking her the old fashioned way with an "Alexa" callout first and foremost.

Once that's complete, say "Alexa, what's my flash briefings?" and Alexa will give you an update on the leading stories of the day.

To enable the Follow-Up Mode, open the Alexa app then head to the settings.

Mohammed Shami cries conspiracy over wife Hasin Jahan's allegation
Jahan, in a Facebook post, reading, "Shami's enjoyment", shared the screenshots of Shami's chats. She also alleges that her mother-in-law used to torture her and his brother tried to kill her.

The company did not provide any further details, including whether it has any insight into what is causing the Echo devices to laugh spontaneously.

According to the reports, the "follow-up mode" is opt-in and available for every device in the Echo lineup and some third-party Echo devices as well. The blue light will go out as usual to show that Alexa is no longer listening. For now, follow-up is only offered in English and only works when Alexa isn't doing a continuous command, such as reading an audiobook or making a call. For example, this follow-up mode will only work when Alexa is "confident" that the second command is not just background noise from a nearby TV or conversation. She simply just laughed.

It'll be interesting to see how well this works. This is going to be a great aid to numerous people that use Alexa because, at certain points, one feels the need to stop the conversation if other things intervene.
