Diplomats, unnamed but quoted in Egypt's al-Shorouk newspaper, say Israel's "take and negotiate" policy means that the longer they wait, the more Palestinian territory will be devoured by Israeli settlements.

The soldiers used riot dispersal measures and then live fire to clear the area, the army said, adding that it would be investigating the incident.

"We are experiencing terrorist attacks by Arabs from the villages near the settlement, nearly daily", said Yitzhar secretariat chairman Uriah Cohen.

Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers are common after Friday Muslim prayers.

The Health Ministry in Gaza also reported three wounded in clashes by the border with Israel, one severely and two moderately.

The Palestinian leadership rejected an invitation by the United States to attend a donors meeting on the humanitarian situation in Gaza planned for March 13 at the White House, a Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) official said on Saturday.

The much-loved pair, who will be married in May, were met by hundreds of well-wishes who had waited out to meet them. In fact, it would be the first time for Prince Harry to meet his future father-in-law Thomas Markle .

Israeli media said the army viewed the event as a potential security threat, while authorities were concerned over how to respond if violence erupted with women and children among the protesters.

The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) blasted the decision, with senior official Saeb Erekat saying, "The American administration's decisions to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and choose the Palestinian people's Nakba as the date for this step is a blatant violation of global law".

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has invited Trump to visit Israel for the occasion.

The announcement came after US President Donald Trump said that Washington was recognizing Jerusalem al-Quds as the "capital" of Israel and planning to relocate the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the city.

Trump's decision, welcomed by Israel, has been condemned by leaders and foreign ministers across the world, who have said the city's status should be determined through negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.
