Police investigating death of 22-year-old Binghamton University student

Binghamton Police said an investigation determined that the person of interest left the United States by plane prior to the discovery of the victim's body.

Investigators believe Anderson likely was dead for days before police were called to check on her welfare. Following an autopsy on Saturday, Anderson's death was ruled a homicide, police said. There is now no suspect in custody, according to Detective Captain John Ryan.

Police say a male nursing student linked romantically to Anderson a person of interest, but he left on a flight out of the country before the body was found.

Authorities said the person of interest had a previous domestic/romantic relationship. Police said the male student had left the country by an global flight, before authorities found Anderson's body.

He also added Australia to the list of likely carve-outs. "We will have to protect our industry with rebalancing measures, safeguards".

The death of a 22-year-old Binghamton University student has been declared a homicide.

Ryan did not reveal the cause of Anderson's death or any other information about what may have occurred before she died.

SUNY Binghamton University, located about 200 miles from New York City, said there was no threat to the public and that investigation remains ongoing.
