Two-and-a-half feet short, to be exact.

Paul Casey won the Valspar Championship, finishing at 10 under.

He finished joint second with fellow American Patrick Reed, who bogeyed the 18th to miss out on a play-off. I can say that because of my life away from the golf course, my wife and kids. "I played pretty solid most of the day, just didn't get the ball close to the hole very often".

Most of the fans were a little more composed, but many, as Sheinin reported, were yelling, "I love you". Missed a short one there on 4 for par. I over did it.

Woods played conservatively with an iron off the 442-yard, uphill closing hole on the Copperhead course. He made two straight birdies and was one shot behind when he pulled his tee shot on the par-3 17th, leading to bogey. Woods vying for PGA Tour victory No. 80.

The Valspar Championship is being played in Tampa, just a few hours from Woods' home in Jupiter City, Florida.

"I had a good shot at winning this golf tournament", Woods said.

Woods will now turn his attention to the Arnold Palmer Invitational - a tournament he has won eight times - before heading to the Masters at Augusta amid significantly heightened expectations. "I just didn't hit it hard enough, obviously". That is the most birdies for any player in a round this week.

When Woods said he didn't know what the future held for him, fans of his golfing artistry were left to face the prospect of never seeing another of his signature masterpieces.

Ex-pharma exec Martin Shkreli sentenced to 7 years in prison
On Friday, judge Kiyo Matsumoto said the fraud case was not about Shkreli's "self-cultivated public persona". Instead, his victims were rich, sophisticated investors, who ultimately made a healthy profit, he said.

Tiger Woods has played consistently well for seven consecutive rounds.

For Woods though, there was something to cheer in his coming up second as it was his best finish on the PGA Tour in 1,659 days. Woods also is projected to move to 148th in the Official World Ranking, up from 388.

"It feels like it's back to "12 or '13", said LaCava, Woods's caddie since 2011". So I felt very comfortable.

"It was a very good week".

He just didn't do enough Sunday.

Conners dropped two shots in the first three holes, before settling down to trail by three shots after nine holes. That left him with 39 feet for his birdie putt, one Casey said he gave Woods a 50-percent chance at holing. He needed 32 putts after hitting 14 of 18 greens.

Thousands lined the fairway at every hole Woods played and his galleries dwarfed those for the rest of the field with attendance at a tournament that past year drew 112,000 soaring to more than 150,000 for his first appearance.

But to nitpick his statistics is missing the overall picture.

Woods has continuously attempted to get back to his best after copious amounts of surgery on his back problems. "He's putting well, his short game looks really sharp and he's got energy".
