The entertainment world is today in mourning for Sir Ken, as fans share memories of his unique career.

In reference to the scouse jester's epic show lengths, comedian Gary Delaney tweeted: "RIP Sir Ken Dodd".

His TV shows included The Ken Dodd Show, Beyond Our Ken, Ken Dodd's Laughter Show and An Audience With Ken Dodd and he entered the big time in 1965 with the longest-ever run at the London Palladium - 42 weeks.

"He was a comedy legend and a genius".

Liz would collect him in her auto from his home in Knotty Ash and take him to various events which always guaranteed much welcome publicity. "There is no-one else that comes close".

Glowing tributes have been paid to comedy legend Sir Ken Dodd following his death - with the boss of The Sands Centre in Carlisle calling him an "undoubted superstar".

'They got the registrar and were married in the house on Friday.

Norma Hornby, manager of youth charity The Canal Boat Adventure Project, of which Doddy was patron for 39 years, last year told the Daily Mirror: "The work Ken has done for children and young people in deprived communities made them determined for Ken to be knighted".

Dodd, who had recently been hospitalized with a chest infection, married his longtime partner Anne Jones on Friday.

Television personality Claire Sweeney, a fellow Liverpudlian, shared some photos of the star's 90th birthday party on Twitter.

Britain's Got Talent judge David Walliams wrote of the funnyman: "Comedy flowed through him like water".

The Diocese of Liverpool said it would be announcing details of Sir Ken's funeral at a later stage.

"I am not often lost for words, but I feel the need to express my honest gratitude to all those who have taken the time and trouble to send cards, messages and expressions of goodwill during my stay in hospital". Just laughed and laughed and tried not to drown in my soup.

He performed his last show just a few months ago, and had been planning a 2018 tour, until this had to be cancelled due to his illness.

The Bishop of Liverpool Paul Bayes said: "Like everyone in Liverpool and like many across the world I am deeply saddened by Sir Ken's death".
