Microsoft will bring its cloud to Switzerland and the Middle East

The corporation intends to be the first global cloud operator to introduce cloud regions in Switzerland in the cantons of Geneva and Zurich. Businesses operating in France now have the option to buy on-demand computing resources from Microsoft's Azure unit and also subscribe to its Office 365 workplace software, delivered from the cloud data center.

In France, new datacentres in Paris and Marseille mark Microsoft's commitment to the region, opening the Microsoft Cloud to thousands of customers, partners and ISVs, with the general availability of both Azure and Office 365 providing empowering opportunities for countless organisations.

McAfee has announced that it has extended its Cloud Security Platform to consistently protect Microsoft Azure.

We're deepening our investment in the Middle East with these first cloud regions, which will be in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. By adopting the Microsoft Cloud, they will reap the benefits of greater scalability, improved agility, and the opportunity to develop new cloud-based solutions while remaining competitive. The tech titan didn't offer expected availability for the other datacenter regions that it announced today. "In areas like digital transformation, and the development of new intelligent services, our ambition is for the Microsoft Cloud to form a strategic part of the backbone for regional economic development".

Although Microsoft does not reveal earnings by region, past year it reported that the Middle East and Africa is one of the fastest growing regions in the world for its cloud computing business. We're invested to make the Microsoft Cloud GDPR compliant when the regulation becomes effective on May 25, 2018, delivering innovation that accelerates GDPR compliance, and building a community of experts to help customers along their full GDPR journey.

Finastra has already moved its U.S. payments line to Azure, and more business lines will follow over the next 12 months. Dynamics 365 is also set to follow in early 2019.
